A1Sentence structure

C’è / Ci sono

There is / There are

One choice does the work: c’è for a single thing, ci sono for more than one.

There is / there are – c'è and ci sono

C'è and ci sono say that something exists or is present somewhere, like English there is and there are. The choice depends only on the number of what comes after it. Both forms are ci (there) + essere (to be): ci + è becomes c'è, ci + sono stays ci sono.

Singular and plural

C'è una farmacia qui vicino.

There is a pharmacy nearby.

C'è un ristorante in questa strada.

There is a restaurant on this street.

Ci sono due ristoranti in questa strada.

Ci sono molte persone.

Questions and negation

The form stays the same, and there is no do-support. A question is just the statement with rising intonation. For the negative, put non in front.
