Connectors that come in pairs
A two-part connector comes in two pieces. The first piece announces that something is coming, the second delivers it. English works the same way (either … or, both … and, neither … nor, not only … but also), and the German set matches it almost item for item.
The four pairs
entweder … oder (either … or)
Two options, and only one of them happens. With two whole clauses, oder changes nothing. Entweder can stand in front of the subject, or it takes the first place and the verb follows it.
Sie können entweder bar oder mit Karte bezahlen.
You can pay either in cash or by card.
Entweder wir nehmen den Bus, oder wir gehen zu Fuß.
Either we take the bus or we walk.
Entweder nehmen wir den Bus, oder wir gehen zu Fuß.
Either we take the bus or we walk.
same meaning: entweder takes the first place, the verb follows
sowohl … als auch (both … and)
Two things, and both are true. With two singular subjects the verb is plural.
Der Kurs ist sowohl für Anfänger als auch für Fortgeschrittene.
The course is both for beginners and for advanced learners.
Sie spricht sowohl Französisch als auch Russisch.
She speaks both French and Russian.
Sowohl mein Bruder als auch meine Schwester wohnen in Hamburg.

plural verb
nicht nur … sondern auch (not only … but also)
The second item is the extra. A comma always stands in front of sondern.
Das Zimmer ist nicht nur klein, sondern auch laut.
The room is not only small, but also loud.
Er hat nicht nur gekocht, sondern auch abgewaschen.
He not only cooked, he also did the washing-up.
weder … noch (neither … nor)
Two things, and neither is true.
