A hot day in Seville
Ana and Tom step off the train in August.

It is August. Ana and Tom arrive at Seville station. It is very hot.
—Tengo calor —dice Ana.
"I am hot," says Ana.
—Y yo tengo sed —dice Tom.
"And I am thirsty," says Tom.
Un señor de la estación sonríe:
A man at the station smiles.
—La cafetería está allí. Hay agua fría.
"The café is over there. There is cold water."
El señor lleva chaleco y corbata.
The man is wearing a waistcoat and tie.
—¿No tiene calor? —pregunta Tom.
"Aren't you hot?" asks Tom.
—¿Yo? No. Soy de Sevilla.
"Me? No. I am from Seville."
For feeling hot, Spanish uses tener, meaning "to have".
Tengo calor. Tengo sed.
I am hot. I am thirsty.
Watch out
Estoy caliente can sound sexual. For temperature, use tengo calor.
