Watch the video, 48 secondsClara führte ihren Freund begeistert auf den Balkon ihrer neuen Wohnung.
Clara enthusiastically led her friend onto her new flat's balcony.
"Schon schön, aber etwas eng", meinte er und zog den Bauch ein.
"It is nice, I'll give you that, but a bit cramped," he said, pulling his stomach in.
Clara wollte widersprechen, doch dafür hätte sie sich umdrehen müssen.
Clara wanted to disagree, but she would have had to turn around to do that.
Stattdessen zeigte sie auf einen einzelnen Stuhl.
Instead, she pointed at a single chair.
"Ich nenne es einen Balkon mit persönlichem Platzangebot. Sehr persönlich."
"I call it a balcony with a personal seating arrangement. Very personal."
Schon can concede a point before a qualification.
Schön ist er schon, aber etwas eng.
It is nice, I will grant you that, but a bit cramped.
Good to know
This schon is a concession, not a reference to time. Tone and context matter.
