Mia wants to sit down after a long walk.

Mia sieht einen freien Stuhl. Sie fragt einen Mann:
Mia sees an empty chair. She asks a man:
"Darf ich hier sitzen?"
"May I sit here?"
"Ja, klar." Mia setzt sich. Der Mann schaut sie an.
"Yes, of course." Mia sits down. The man looks at her.
"Können Sie kurz aufstehen?"
"Can you stand up for a moment?"
"Warum?"
"Why?"
"Der Stuhl ist nass. Jetzt ist Ihre Hose auch nass."
"The chair is wet. Now your trousers are wet too."
Dürfen asks permission. Können asks about ability.
Darf ich hier sitzen? Können Sie aufstehen?
May I sit here? Can you stand up?
