The dog disagrees
Nora has finally found a quiet corner to work.

Nora sat on a park bench with her laptop. A dog was lying beside her.
"Der macht keinen Lärm, oder?", fragte sie seinen Besitzer.
"He doesn't make any noise, does he?" she asked his owner.
"Nein. Der bellt nie." Nora klappte den Laptop auf.
"No. He never barks." Nora opened her laptop.
Da bellte der Hund so laut, dass sogar die Tauben verschwanden.
Then the dog barked so loudly that even the pigeons disappeared.
"Doch. Offenbar hat er etwas gegen Videokonferenzen."
"Yes, he does. Apparently, he has something against video calls."
Doch contradicts a negative statement or question.
Er bellt nicht. Doch, er bellt.
He does not bark. Yes, he does.

Doch has other uses as a conversational particle. Here it directly contradicts nicht.
